SOURCE CODE

Source code

Source code is a text that represents the instructions of a program as written in a programming language in a human-readable form by a programmer. The source code often materializes as a set of text files.
The source code is often translated by an assembler or compiler in binary code - consisting of machine instructions executable by a processor. It can also be interpreted to be executed immediately. Another possibility is that it be translated into intermediate code which will then be interpreted.

Code is easier to read and write with an editor providing syntax highlighting to distinguish different elements of the source code. For example, comments can be highlighted in green.

Code sample in Ruby:

a = "\n這是一個雙引號的字串\n"

a = %Q{\n這是一個雙引號的字串\n}

a = <<BLOCK
這是一個雙引號的字串
這是一個雙引號的字串
BLOCK

a = %/\t這是一個雙引號的字串\n/

Another example of code in Ruby:

hash = { :water => 'wet', :fire => 'hot' }
puts hash[:fire] # Τυπώνει:  hot

hash.each_pair do |key,value| # Ή:  hash.each do |key, value|
  puts "#{key} is #{value}"
end

# Τυώνει: water is wet
#          fire is hot

hash.delete:water # Σβήνει το :water => 'wet'
hash.delete_if {|key,value| value=='hot'} # Σβήει το :fire => 'hot'
